Mission & Goals


Mission:

The association seeks to strengthen Palestinian civil society and protect it from the social disease of drugs and alcohol addiction through comprehensive programs that include related interventions to the addict and his family and his community, and focus on providing treatment and rehabilitation for addicts and community. Furthermore, the association provides outreach programs and extended psychological, social programs and support to the addicts and their families.


Goals:

The basic aim of ASTA is to provide social awareness of the dangerous outcomes of drug abuse and alcohol use in the local Palestinian community through the achievement of the following objectives:
. Increasing social awareness of the drug problem and alcohol abuse and the strategies to
get rid of this social disease among all categories in the society and specifically among the youth through lectures, group discussions, visual and auditory means and public media.
. Providing the addict’s family members with psycho-social guidance services to assist them to overcome their problems and crisis situations resulting from the addiction of one oftheir family members.
. Providing the addicts with diagnostic, individual and group psychosocial therapy and rehabilitation services at the Treatment Center.
. Training functional youth leaders to effectively support their peers to abstain from indulging in the world of drug addiction and maladaptive behaviors.
. Providing professional and educational training for Palestinian university students and institutions of higher learning specialized in the field of human and social sciences.
