Mission & Goals

Mission:

ASTA attempts to strengthen and protect the Palestinian Civil Society from social diseases represented by alcohol and drug addiction through its holistic and comprehensive programs which are comprised of joint interventions and embody the addict, his family, and the community at large. It focuses too, on providing the addict with treatment and rehabilitation services in addition to psycho-social counseling programs supportive to the addict’s family.


Goals:

The basic aim of ASTA is to provide social awareness of the dangerous outcomes of drug abuse and alcohol use in the local Palestinian community through the achievement of the following objectives:
. Increasing social awareness of the drug problem and alcohol abuse and the strategies to
get rid of this social disease among all categories in the society and specifically among the youth through lectures, group discussions, visual and auditory means and public media.
. Providing the addict’s family members with psycho-social guidance services to assist them to overcome their problems and crisis situations resulting from the addiction of one oftheir family members.
. Providing the addicts with diagnostic, individual and group psychosocial therapy and rehabilitation services at the Treatment Center.
. Training functional youth leaders to effectively support their peers to abstain from indulging in the world of drug addiction and maladaptive behaviors.
. Providing professional and educational training for Palestinian university students and institutions of higher learning specialized in the field of human and social sciences.
